Sonic: Taku

Welcome to taku

We hope you enjoy your stay. Please read below for more information on Sonic: Taku.

Plot

In the world of Sonic, all is well... until everyone is kidnapped on Dr. Robotnik's ship and taken to a planet far away! Robotnik clearly has intentions to make this place his Egg Land, but before he knows it his ship is over-run with natives of this planet. The ship starts to malfunction, and it explodes. Luckily the natives take everyone off the ship just as it explodes, but everyone except the natives (for they used magic to protect themselves) is knocked out.

Several hours later, these animals wake up. Some alone, some with natives, others with other animals. Together they must team up and save the world of Taku!

Advantages

Sonic: Taku has differences from normal Sonic role-play sites.

Classes: Sonic: Taku has different classes of characters. There are Henchmen (Robotnik's loyal assistants), Veterans (the people taken from the original planet), Rebels (people who have left a group and don't want to be in any other group) and Natives (Taku's citizens).

Webs: Most Sonic role-playing sites are located on Proboards. The problem with this is that they are easy to hack, and security is scarce using Proboards. Webs does not have this issue. It also means a sidebar, navbar, etc. for easy access.

Organization: Most Sonic role-playing sites are close-knit and do not usually accept new members without a bit of hassle and/or distrust. Sonic: Taku allows new users a new opportunity. Those who do not understand are taught what they need and more. At the same time, it is easy to manage users, get friends, etc.

Interaction: Sonic: Taku has more to offer than just a secure and easy to use Sonic role-playing site. Sonic: Taku has an official custom stage for Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and there may be more!

frequently asked questions

Q: "Is Re: Activation going to be incorperated into this?" A: "It MAY be possible to add Re: Activation to Sonic: Taku but in order to maintain security it would have to be located on a more secure forum hoster, such as PHPBB. Unfortunately, the creator of this site does not have the experience to do this. And plus, Re: Activation did not go nearly as planned and it would be even more work to figure out how to make it into what it was meant to be or even good enough to attract interest. Don't get your hopes up."

Q: "I've heard a rumor that Sonic: Taku is not being guided by Sarah, the original Taku creator. Is this true?" A: "True. Sarah had no part in the development of this version of Taku except Moni7or asking her if it was okay to do it. The answer was an enthusiastic yes.

Q: "How did you get the paragraphs and such to make the Information section? You can't do that with content boxes, right?" A: "You are correct, you can't do that with content boxes! Simply create a Web Form, and use Paragraphs. You'll have to toy around with it a bit to get it to work just right, but if you can master doing it this way you should be able to have paragraphs and the sort just like these! Unfortunately, there'll be a Submit button at the bottom. It sends the site creator an email. With the free version of Webs you have a limited amount of emails you can get from that button. We're not sure what happens when you run out, hopefully the Submit button just gets greyed out. Just tell people not to click it?"

Q: "How do we join Sonic: Taku?" A: "Click on Join/Member List in the navbar. It will show you what members have joined this site, but above that and to the right there will be an option to join. Click on it, and if you have a Webs account already made it will transfer the information."

Q: "Will Sonic: Taku cost anything to take part in?" A: "Sonic: Taku always has been, is now, and always will be free of charge."

Q: "What was the reasoning behind changing from Proboards to Webs?" A: "Proboards are easy to manage, but sometimes too hard to navigate. And plus, accounts on it can be so easily hacked that using Proboards could spell instant security loss for everyone here. Once I discovered the latter I knew we had to switch and FAST. Then, when I discovered that Webs was a lot better than I knew it when I had used it last (years ago, when it was still FreeWebs) I realized the awesome potential of recreating Taku on Webs."

Q: "How do we edit our posts?" A: "There's no magic Edit button waiting for you. It's not possible to add it. Well, maybe it is through code, but we're not risking ruining the site over an Edit button. Simply copy your old post, Reply, paste it, do whatever changes you want, post it, and delete your old post. But this only works if no one's replied inbetween your edit and your old post. It's basically "You can edit up until someone says something. Then you're out of luck."

Q: "Is Sonic: Taku trying to start a trend or is it exclusive?" A: "Both. Sonic: Taku has advantages over normal Sonic role-playing sites that make it top-notch, but it certainly is not holding it's awesomeness from other Sonic role-playing sites. If most Sonic role-playing sites go the way of Sonic: Taku, then it will be glorious to see that we have inspired and that we have improved Sonic role-playing. We're not selfish."

Q: "In addition to the above, what rights does Sonic: Taku have?" A: "The Terms of Use aren't really rights... we made the plot, boards, etc. but props go to Sega for giving us a great start (not so great of a end, as many will agree) and allowing everyone to have Sonic role-plays. Anyways, anyone can edit our plot, boards, etc. and use them on their own site, just don't copy everything word-for-word. Be fairly original, that's all.
